Left 4 Dead 2 long holds the spot as one of the classic co-op games you have to play with friends. Its graphics, gameplay, and overall fun factor still hold up all this time later. Unfortunately, it hasn’t gotten updates for quite some time now, but the community is hard at work making free content. It keeps the game alive to this day, holding 15,000 concurrent peak players every day. Now, Valve is looking to join that content party. 11 years following the launch of Left 4 Dead 2, Valve is updating the game. You can find the teaser for the update below.

Admittedly, Valve is cheating a bit with this. The update is mainly coming from the community, bringing the long-dormant survival map of The Last Stand into Left 4 Dead 2. Following updates from the community, bug testing, and other changes, Valve is taking note and joining the effort. No longer will this be a community mod on the Steam Workshop, but instead it becomes a full update for the game. Whatever else is coming in this update is unknown, but the uploader of the teaser promises some surprises. We’ll have to wait and see what they have in store for The Last Stand.

As of this article, the update is only coming to PC which unfortunately leaves consoles in the dark. The option hasn’t been ruled out though, so perhaps there’s a chance we’ll see the update over there. Regardless, this is still exciting for the Left 4 Dead 2 community. Its been a long time since an update has come to the game, so this could be a sign of more things to come. Nothing is confirmed though, so take that with a grain of salt.

For now, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think The Last Stand will prove to be an exciting addition to Left 4 Dead 2? Any community maps you wish to see become a full update? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
