Left 4 Dead 3 has been making a lot of headlines lately.  After Valve employees jokingly teased the game via social media in July, a recent tour of the Valve offices gave us our second dose of Left 4 Dead 3 rumors.  According to a report from RPS, these rumors that stemmed from an image which depicted both the Source 2 Engine and Left 4 Dead 3 are completely legitimate.

Anonymous sources told the website that the image is real, and that earlier rumors about the game may have been accurate as well.  So with Valve’s Left 4 Dead 3 all but officially revealed, the new question turns to when?

When will Valve actually announce Left 4 Dead 3, and where will it arrive? Will this be a next-gen title for PC only?  Steambox exclusive?  PlayStation exclusive?  Gabe Newell has been vocal about his dislike for some of Microsoft’s practices in recent years.  From their closed Xbox Live service which didn’t allow for critical patching to games like Left 4 Dead and The Orange Box, to his dislike of Windows 8, it will be interesting to see what Valve plans to do with one of their biggest franchises.

This “other” rumor that was given some credibility today by an RPS informer comes from a database which uncovered numerous projects that Valve is working on.  One of them included Half Life 3 in Valve’s Project Tracker.  You can find the full database over on Valvetime.  Since these do still come from anonymous tipsters, and Valve has yet to officially announce anything, we’ll chalk it up to another in the many rumors surrounding future projects at Valve.
