The developers behind the widely popular Left 4 Dead franchise, Turtle Rock Studios, has just announced a new zombie game.

Spoiler alert, it’s not Left 4 Dead 3.

Instead of a Left 4 Dead sequel, Turtle Rock Studios has announced Back 4 Blood, which will be a first-person co-op zombie game. Seriously, this isn’t an official Left 4 Dead sequel. On the studio’s site, Turtle Rock Studios adamantly stated that:

There haven’t been many details revealed but Turtle Rock Studios has said that Back 4 Blood will feature a campaign and will have some PvP elements included. In regard to the price of the game, Turtle Rock Studios stated that while they haven’t locked down a price yet, fans could expect to see a “premium, AAA title”. Also, it has been confirmed that the game isn’t a Battle Royale title, so at least there’s that.

Back 4 Blood has no definite launch date but it is expected to release for Xbox One, PC, and PS4. The game will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Evolve was Turtle Rock Studios’ last big release. Safe to say, it didn’t perform too well. It was pretty much panned across the board from critics and fans alike, with one of the biggest critiques being a huge lack of content.

While it won’t be a sequel to Left 4 Dead, hopefully Back 4 Blood takes more cues from that admired franchise than Evolve.
