Don’t get run over.
Water dungeons in The Legend of Zelda series have always been considered the worst by far for fans, though the one found in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening isn’t too bad. A good bit into the Angler’s Tunnel dungeon, you’ll come across the mini-boss for the dungeon named Cue Ball. This guide will tell you just how you can take him down in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Before you start the fight, make sure you have Roc’s Feather equipped, though I personally almost always have it available to use. Now your first instinct may be to try and outrun Cue Ball and catch up to hit it in the ball, similar to the fight you may know from Ocarina of Time. However, that is not the way to take down Cue Ball, as he’ll just reverse direction as soon as you get too close from behind.
What you must do instead is wait on one of the long straightaways and jump over him directly with Roc’s Feather. This may seem a little daunting due to his size, but he’s actually rather easy to jump over without getting his.
After jumping over him, slash him with your sword. This will take many hits to take him down, somewhere around 11 total, and by that time Cue Ball will finally fall and you’ll unlock the warp portal within the dungeon.
