Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is an odd game. If this is the first time you have played it, it is important to keep in mind that the game is a remaster, with the core design still intact from a couple of decades ago. This is why you may be so confused when you first get to Bottle Grotto.

How To Progress In Bottle Grotto

When you first arrive, there will be a room with a treasure chest that is blocked by pots. There is nothing you can do about the pots right now, so ignore them and venture through the door to the north of the screen.

Now you should be in a dark room, with a raised dais in the center, and an electrical enemy doing rotations around the room. There will also be two locked doors, one of which will slam shut when you enter the room.

Head to the top of the dais and equip the Magic Powder that the witch made you from the Toadstool you found. Blow some onto each torch to light them, and the door that slammed shut will open again.

It’s an important less for how to approach the rest of the game, items that you find have uses outside of the obvious reasons that you wanted them. Yes, you need Magic Powder to deal with the Raccoon, but you also need it in other circumstances as well. When you hit spots in dungeons and are unsure of what to do, remember to try and consider the situation in light of all the items in your possession, then some trial and error should get you the solution you need.
