The popular personality, 87-year old Leroy Jenkins, the real one… will be a playable character coming to World of Warships! Many know of Leroy Jenkins through the treasured meme created years back within the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. To where a player named “Leroy Jenkins” shouted his name over a few seconds whilst entering a raid.

However, Leroy Jenkins isn’t only known for that reason…Throughout his life, he served in the navy, to where he is now a known veteran. Serving on a ship during the Korean War, Leroy was a lookout and an armed guard. He is now considered a humble veteran, which makes for a perfect character within World of Warships.

Leroy seems to be gaining the recognition he deserves, being a great addition for players to set sail with! The reasoning behind this interesting character comes from an announcement. To where World of Warships celebrates the commissioning of USS Kidd (DD-661) 78 years ago.

With such a special occasion, World of Warships recognized Leroy in 2017. Where he was volunteering for a museum ship, as well as serving his country. They underwent an interview found here. Where Leroy Jenkins spoke of his naval adventures and stories amongst the sea to the creators of World of Warships.

Wargaming, the developers of World of Warships decided to take on his stories and adventures themselves, honoring his efforts, as well as expressing him to their community.
