The trailer for Needle in a Timestack has dropped for audiences. Starring Leslie Odom Jr., Cynthia Erivo, and Orlando Bloom, the film approaches love in the context of time travel. Adapted from the short story by Robert Silverberg, the film is directed by John Ridley and is set to be released on October 15 of this year.

The subject of time travel isn’t new, but the Needle in a Timestack trailer takes an approach on the romantic side. Leslie Odom Jr.’s Nick and Cynthia Erivo’s Janine are in love and happily married, but this gets torn apart by Janine’s ex-husband, played by Orlando Bloom. The trailer opens as Nick decides to go down the rabbit hole and go back in time. Although it isn’t inherently clear why Nick first decides to do this, what does become clear is the nefarious intentions of Orlando Bloom’s character. As Nick travels through time he starts to forget his wife and his reality crumbles around him.

The trailer is a teaser towards an interesting take on time travel. Director John Ridley has many producing credits. Most notably is Steve McQueen’s Oscar-nominated film, 12 Years a Slave.

Leslie Odom Jr.’s Return

Leslie Odom Jr. was wildly successful in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway hit Hamilton. After playing Aaron Burr on stage, he turned to act in film. Needle in a Timestick is one example of a newly anticipated performance. He is also slated to appear in Rian Johnson’s highly anticipated sequel to Knives Out. The film has another star-studded cast along with returning character Benoit Blanc played by Daniel Craig.

Needle in a Timestack is a film portraying the dissolution of a marriage with a sci-fi spin. The story comes from Silverberg’s short story collection and was published in 1966. The new film is set to hit select theaters on October 15 and is available for purchase on bluray and DVD on October 19th.
