Liberté, a story-driven top-down roguelike, is heading to Steam Early Access later this month. The Poland-based studio, Superstatic, has summoned ancient horrors for this Lovecraftian reimagining of the French Revolution. The game will be available starting on February 15th, 2022. The studio has plans for a console release in early 2023.

About Liberté’s alternate history
Liberté‘s story begins with the coronation of France’s new king. The party brutally ends after an otherworldly horror crashes the place. The entire town devolves into anarchy as a result. Four differing factions attempt to put an end to the madness and use the cataclysm to seize power.
A key feature of Liberté is the promise of a mature storyline. Complex characters will inhabit the gray areas of morality rather than be tied to simply good or evil. As of the Early Access launch, the game has a script over 30,000 words in length. Right now, the game should take roughly 35 hours to complete. However, Superstatic plans to have over 60 hours of game content available when the game leaves Early Access later this year.

The game also features a Story Mode to let players focus on the narrative if they so choose.
About the game’s unique gameplay combination
The core gameplay of Liberté revolves around a combination of fast-paced combat and deck-building mechanics. Each time players enter the game world; they begin with no abilities or other bonuses. However, every time players conquer a challenge, they draw a card from their personal deck. By doing so, they gain skills and talents that work together to create powerful combos. Liberté launches with over 100 unique cards for players to collect and assemble into powerful decks.
