Gameplay footage will be coming soon as well.

Back when Life is Strange 2 got its first official reveal teaser in June, it was stated that more information about the game would be coming in August. Another brief teaser unveiled at the beginning of the month stated that details about the game would be revealed on August 20, and now that it is August 20, those details have been given.

Today, developer DONTNOD released a full trailer for Life is Strange 2, as well as updating the game’s official blog with a post revealing more information. We learned from this blog post that the new game will star brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz, who are the two brothers who appeared at the end of The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. The player will be playing as Sean, the sixteen-year-old older brother, and will be taking care of Daniel, who is nine, as they travel to Mexico, trying to escape a past that seems to involve the death of the police officer shown in the teaser from earlier this month and that was alluded to in a newspaper in Captain Spirit. The blog promises that this journey “will tackle a host of issues that all of us can identify with and that will cause moral dilemmas and require much soul searching.” It is also stated that Daniel’s character will develop differently depending on the lessons you choose to teach him.

It was also confirmed that Life is Strange 2 will feature a new supernatural power (not that anyone was really doubting that at this point), but it is still unclear what the specific nature of the power is or which of the brothers has it. This is information that will be revealed at a later date. It is also stated that the game will feature a whole new cast of characters across its multiple new settings in what DONTNOD says will be “the most ambitious Life is Strange entry with the highest production values in the game series to date.”

Additionally, Life is Strange 2 will feature a new, original soundtrack by original Life is Strange composer Jonathan Morali, as well as containing a soundtrack full of new licensed songs. Those currently attending Gamescom 2018 will be able to play the first scene of the game at the Square Enix booth, and gameplay footage will be available for the rest of us to view soon.

Life is Strange 2 will premiere its first of five episodes on September 27 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You can watch the new trailer below.
