Remasters are all the craze as of late, and with good reason, if they’re done well. On one end you have something like the Mass Effect Legendary Edition which redesigned the original game to be far more acceptable for modern audiences, while the latter two entries received small but good improvements. And on the other, you have GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition which…well I don’t think we need to go into that. Today, it’s Deck Nine’s turn to hopefully land on the good side of that spectrum, as Life is Strange Remastered Collection has released across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The Nintendo Switch version will arrive later this year following a slight delay. Have a look at the official launch trailer below!
Life is Strange Remastered Collection brings together the two original stories in a remastered fashion, promising many changes to make the games more acceptable for modern audiences. Most notably, the game features remastered visuals across both characters and the environment, bringing a whole new level of fidelity that the now aging game desperately needed. There’s also heavily improved character animations, with the team making use of motion capture technology to better display character emotion (though this feature is exclusive to Life is Strange, and is not done in Before the Storm). Rounding off the changes is improved lighting and puzzles, which should make the game not only look much nicer than it did before, but should feel more enjoyable to play and solve.
Right now, you can pick up and play the collection from your console’s platform or through the Steam store. You can also pick up the Life is Strange: True Colors Ultimate Edition to not only score that game, but the Remastered Collection as well. Given it’s a $20 difference at least over on Steam, that doesn’t sound too bad.
