Lisa Marie Presley Dies From Cardiac Arrest

Lisa Marie Presley was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 1, 1968, nine months after her parents were married. After her parents divorced in 1973, four-year-old Presley went to live with her mother in Los Angeles, CA. Recalling her relationship with her father, Presley told Good Morning America, “He’d always wake me up to sing in the middle of the night, get on the table and sing. I remember him as my dad, but he was a very exciting dad.” Elvis died in 1977 when Lisa Marie was nine, and with her grandparents’ deaths in 1979 and 1980, she became her father’s sole heir. This included inheriting his Graceland residence.

Like her father, Lisa Marie became a singer. She released three albums: To Whom It May Concern (2003), Now What (2005), and Storm & Grace (2012). The first of those albums eventually became gold-certified. She also had non-album singles, including duets with her father using past recordings of his voice.

Presley was married four times. Her first marriage was to musician Danny Keough, which lasted from 1988. She had two children with him: a daughter, actress Riley Keough, and a son, Benjamin Keough. Benjamin committed suicide in 2020. Presley was also famously married to Michael Jackson from 1994 to 1996. She was married to actor Nicolas Cage from 2002 to 2004. Her fourth and final marriage was to music producer Michael Lockwood, whom she married in 2006. They divorced in 2021.

Lisa Marie Presley: Singer, Daughter to Elvis, and Philanthropist

Along with being a singer and the daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie was a committed philanthropist. She served as overseer to the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation, serving the homeless, providing daycare, and helping families in need. Presley also worked with Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Network to help Hurricane Katrina victims, and she worked with Dream Factory to benefit children with life-threatening illnesses or disabilities.

Lisa Marie Presley’s death occurred just two days after she attended the Golden Globes, where Austin Butler earned the award for portraying Lisa Marie’s father in Elvis.
