We’ve been hearing about Little Devil Inside for a long time now. Originally announced through a Kickstarter campaign back in 2015, it did what many Kickstarter games do best, and missed its initial release window. And then the next one. And the one after that. And…well, you get the idea. But don’t give up hope on this little devil quite yet: the most recent Playstation State of Play event showed off a new trailer, and it looks like there’s a lot of good stuff going on. It may have even answered the question: does Little Devil Inside have a release date? You’ll have to check out the trailer to find out!

Little Devil Inside State of Play Trailer

First things first: it looks gorgeous. When moving around the world map the cartoony style looks like a miniature playset, while moving closer to the action when interacting with objects and characters shows off detailed environments and beautiful lighting effects. Developer Neostream has put a lot of love into all aspects of the design of Little Devil Inside.

In terms of gameplay, it seems that protagonist Billy is going to be busy. Self-described as a “stylish action-adventure”, action sequences are clearly Zelda-inspired, with Billy wielding a stubby sword and beating up on monsters. There also appear to be additional gameplay mechanics in the form of cooking and fishing (because every game needs to have fishing now).

If you were one of the original Kickstarter backers, or have been a follower of Little Devil Inside for years, then you’re probably asking yourself: when’s it coming out?

Release Date

According to the trailer, Little Devil Inside has a release date (or window in this case) of 2022! That’s not terribly specific! And maybe even a little worrying, given how many release dates have come and gone already. And that Sony already promised a release date of July 2021 earlier this year.

The good news is that everything in the trailer looks polished and, with any luck, ready to go soon. If you’ve missed out on some of the previous controversy surrounding Little Devil Inside, then make sure to check out our coverage. And if it ever comes out, come back for our eventual review!
