The artist and mental health advocate, Logic, announced in a Verge interview his new partnership with Twitch. In the same vein as other streamer contracts, it seems that Twitch is choosing to branch out and get more creative. Known for his deep and methodical lyrics that speak to social injustice or civil rights issues; Logic is exploring new avenues to continue his stream of positivity.

Also known as Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, he recently revealed his plans to retire after his final LP. Discussing how his businessman’s attitude drove him to insanity, Hall explained how certain decisions felt disingenuous and involuntary. After repeated retirement announcements over the years, it’s clear to see why Hall wants to be so clear. While the hip hop star certainly has expressed disdain for social media, he’s no stranger to the live streaming world of Twitch. He proclaimed his active use since Twitch’s exceptional growth period in the mid-2010s.

Signing a seven-figure deal does however mean he will bring sizable competition to the overly saturated streaming space. He cited one of the principal reasons for signing the deal is the control moderation tools allow Twitch streamers over their chat and interaction with viewers. Twitch’s first exclusive musician could be lucrative, hosting online concerts has become popular and has garnered a significant amount of site traffic for streaming sites overall.

Expressing his passion for games, Hall further explains how he’s just a nerd too. Stating his primary intention is to provide content and interact with his fans, he looks forward to starting something new to add in Twitch’s wider landscape. Explaining how he doesn’t want this “new era” label for his career, Hall entertained the desire to still make music and be a musician based creator. Bringing that energy and sound to Twitch’s already deep musical community, Hall hopes to relax and bring joy to his audience and leave the politics to his musical art.
