Before I started driving, racing games allowed me to experience what it was like to drive. Like many, I originally started with the arcade games Daytona USA, Crazy Taxi, and Cruis’n USA; these three games would ignite my love of racing games that would last until the mid-2010s. Although racing games have vastly improved over the last 30 years, the standard video game controller could not match the feeling that the old 90s arcade games gave of driving behind a wheel. Earlier this week, Logitech G revealed the Logitech G923 racing wheel and pedals bringing gamers close to the race track.

Now over the last thirty years, I have seen my fair share of racing setups. The two setups that came close to the real thing cost over three thousand dollars; these two setups also took up a lot of space.  In less than four months, Xbox and Sony will be releasing the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5; and in little over a month’s time, car enthusiasts will have to watch their speeds and prepare for hazardous conditions. With a changing of seasons and consoles imminent, Logitech G’s unveiling of the Logitech G923 Trueforce Sim Racing set up comes at the right time.

The Logitech G923 Trueforce Sim Racing Wheel and Pedals provides gamers with:

  • Programmable Dual Clutch Launch Controls – allows racers to get off the line cleaner and faster with a programmable dual-clutch that facilitates maximum traction and minimum smoke.
  • Built-In Rev Indicator – built-in colored LED lights indicate your RPM range, alerting the racer when they’re hitting redline.
  • On-Wheel Game Controls – game controls for PlayStation, PC and Xbox consoles integrated into the steering wheel for total control at your fingertips.
  • Progressive Brake Pedals – featuring a new progressive spring for a more responsive feel, the new brake pedal responsiveness adds more realism and control.
  • 24-Point Selection Dial – built-in selection dial allows the racer to adjust traction, torque, automatic stability management, brake force, and more.

Logitech G923’s Compatible Games

Although a racing rig can be a great way to enhance your racing experience, it becomes a paperweight if it does not work properly with a variety of racing games. According to Logitech, the Logitech G923 Trueforce Sim Racing Wheel and Pedals will work with a variety of racing games. According to their website, the kit works with some of the most popular PC, Xbox, and PlayStation racing games. Logitech G claims the wheel will work on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 PCs. PC users can utilize the Logitech G Hub software to take full control of your rig. Users can adjust wheel sensitivity, force feedback levels, and button customization. The user can also create multiple profiles for any game.

On PC, players will have an enhanced experience in over 50 games. Most games that are on multiple platforms are supported on all three devices. Some of the most notable PC games are Dirt 4, Farming Simulator 19, Forza Horizon 4, Grid (2019), and WRC 8. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users have a smaller list of games to choose from. Xbox One racers can have an enhanced experience on over 30 titles; some notable Xbox One enhanced racing games are F1 2020, Forza Motorsports 7, Need for Speed Heat, and The Crew 2. The PlayStation 4 has less wheel support with roughly 30 games being enhanced. PS4 players can experience enhanced gameplay in Gran Turismo Sport, Project Cars 2, Need for Speed Payback, and Assetto Corsa.

The full list of supported games can be found on Logitech’s Website.

That’s more than my car payment, but with this set up I might drive less in real life. The Logitech G923 Trueforce Racing Kit is compatible with PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. According to Logitech, the new unit will also have their full support for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
