One of the most notable differences between the future of the MCU and the past is the higher emphasis on streaming shows. Marvel Studios have so many shows coming out on Disney Plus. Some of the shows coming very soon include WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Another show on the horizon is Loki and sees Tom Hiddleston make an anticipated return as the God of Mischief.

Set for May 2021, Loki will follow what happens next after the God of Mischief took off with the Tesseract during the Battle of New York in Avengers: Endgame. Where he ends up, however, is not safe. It doesn’t take long before he’s captured by the Time Variance Authority.

During the Disney Investor Day 2020, we got a first look at the show. Watch it below:

Of course, there were worries Loki would be a one-and-done kind of show, but thankfully that seems less the case. In fact, according to Deadline, a second season is already in development. This comes after executive producer Michael Waldron has signed a deal that includes his involvement in a Loki season 2. It is currently unclear what capacity he will return, but it certainly confirms Disney’s plans for another season. It’s worth noting that the deal also includes Waldron writing Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie, announced in 2019.

Loki boasts a strong cast, including Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. Behind the scenes, Kater Herron is directing. And, of course, Michael Waldron as head writer. Disney clearly loves his work. He also worked as a writer on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
