The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series Loki dropped an exclusive new sneak peek at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards. The clip reveals Owen Wilson’s character in the highly anticipated show and teases the introduction of the Time-Keepers, the bosses of the Time Variance Authority (TVA).

The Loki sneak peek shows a conversation between Agent Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). The Asgardian God of Mischief seems to regard the TVA with contempt and drops some details about the Time-Keepers.

“The idea that your little club decides the fate of trillions of people across all of existence at the behest of three… Space-Lizards? Yes, it’s funny. It’s absurd,” Loki declares in the preview.

So now we have confirmation that the Time-Keepers are aliens who effectively rule the whole multiverse and that they will have a major role to play in the story. In the comics, the Time-Keepers oppose their own evil alternate selves, known as the Time-Twisters.

The Time-Keepers have come into conflict with the Avengers on multiple occasions. They’ve also been very interested in Wanda Maximoff / the Scarlet Witch, though it’s unlikely that Elizabeth Olsen’s character will have anything to do with the show.

Kang the Conqueror also has a connection to the Time-Keepers as a version of him called Immortus works for them. The Loki sneak peek doesn’t drop any more hints, but it would be interesting to see something of Kang before his full appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where the villain will be played by Jonathan Majors.

Created by Michael Waldron, the six-episode series is set to launch on June 9, 2021. The series will focus on an alternate version of Loki as he adventures through time, working for the TVA. The main cast for the series includes Hiddleston, Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. Loki is directed by Kate Herron with Michael Waldron as head writer.
