League of Legends Season 13 ranked competition has been confirmed to begin with the launch of Patch 13.1. The season will be divided into two splits, with the first split starting on January 10 in the Oceania region and ending on January 11 in Vietnam. This season will introduce new champions and features, such as new pings, the return of the Chemtech Drake, and changes to the jungle and top lane roles. The second split has not yet been given a start date, but it is expected to begin in June or July. The Chemtech Drake, which was previously overpowered and removed, will return with a “Sion-like” zombie passive that allows players to use their abilities after death for a limited time.
League of Legends Season 13 (Patch 13.1)
Riot Games has announced that Season 13 of League of Legends will feature four new champions, including a “hangry jungle” and an “artistic mid-laner.” This comes after the confirmation of enchanter support Milio and Darkin assassin Naafiri. The pacing of new content releases for the game, focusing on four to six new champions and reworks and updates, has been consistent since Season 10.
Lead champion designer Lexi Gao (via Dexerto) stated that the number of new champions released in a season might vary based on team resources and the need to fill specific niches in the game. Gao also mentioned that the schedule for new content releases in the coming years is expected to be more straightforward compared to the past few years.
Chemtech Drake is BACK and better than ever. Our goal with the new-and-improved drake is to encourage calculated, aggressive plays and incentivize players to fight to the end to gain the edge over their opponents,” Riot Riru said.
