We have bad news for those among you who have been waiting for Lords of the Fallen 2 to show up again anytime soon. As you might recall, the development team behind the game has been changed abruptly last summer, and it was revealed that Defiant Studios, a newly founded New York studio, was set in charge of the works.

Now, CI Games has announced that it has parted ways with Defiant Studios, too, as it is not satisfied with the quality of that work and has not seen improvements after three calls to make of Lords of Fallen 2 a better game.

On top of that, the publisher says that “the termination of the agreement was submitted due to the inadequate execution by Defiant of a key work stage (milestone no. 11), a so-called vertical slice” which was possibly asked to show the game in public.

CI Games says that “the quality of work was lower than expected by the company,” and that this led to the decision of parting ways.

Defiant “categorically disagree with the portrayal” as shared in a note sent to Eurogamer. “The team that was working on CI Games’ project was comprised of exceedingly talented developers” known for previous experiences on “key roles in Just Cause 3, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Far Cry 5, DmC.”

It’s sad to hear that the game is not taking the proper steps ahead in time for a release soon, and there’s a chance it could be ditched if CI Games doesn’t find another partner that could be satisfying its requests.
