Break out your pickaxes, it is time to start climbing.  Atmospheric platformer Lorn’s Lure is coming to Steam in 2021. In Lorn’s Lure, you play as an android who is tracking a mysterious glitch after leaving his home colony. After discovering a vast structure, it’s up to you to find answers and make your way through.

Run, Slide and Climb in Lorn’s Lure

It is not clear if the game will have a focus on story. There will, however, be lore to discover as you make your way through the game. The game is highly reminiscent of classic 90s PC games, for example, Quake. However, unlike other platforming games where there is a set path, the game will allow you to climb almost any vertical structure.

In addition to following the graphical style of older games, Lorn’s Lure will also be quite tough. Unlike those games, however, you won’t have to redo lengthy segments due to a poorly timed jump. Thanks to your pickaxes, you can scale or hold onto ledges and walls.  Looking at the trailer, your character does seem to have a stamina gauge that drains while climbing, so you’ll have to be careful.

The Steam description goes into how Lorn’s Lure is made for players that want to play it fast and slow, which is evident in the trailer.  Hopefully, this game picks up in the speedrunning community, as this game could have some interesting speedruns to watch.

Dark and Atmospheric 90s Style Graphics

Lorn’s Lure developer Rubeki Games has some experience making dark and foreboding platformers.  Hatch, released in 2019, was also a masochistic first-person platformer.
