Achates is one of the Level 3 Guardian Raids you will need to fight to venture into Level 4 raids. Achates is also the strongest guardian you can fight in level 3 and the only one out of the four to drop legendary tier equipment. This guide will teach you how to complete the Achates Guardian Raid in Lost Ark.

Lost Ark Achates Guardian Raid Guide

Before entering the Achates Guardian Raid in Lost Ark, you must reach Item Level 920. There are also four separate Level 2 raids you must complete first before you can fight Achates:

  • Chromanium
  • Nacrasena
  • Flame Fox Yoho
  • Tytalos

Before entering the raid, make sure to bring appropriate potions and equipment to help you along the way. You should include items like HP potions to regain health, flares to help you locate the boss, and Panacea potions for removing status effects. In particular, you will also want to bring Destruction bombs since they deal high Weak Point damage. Additionally, you’ll want to create a preset skill loadout that includes Weak Point abilities. When you mouse over a skill, it will tell you its Weak Point level. Try to have some spells with Weak Point level two or three to help you during the raid.

Achates Guardian Raid Mechanics

Upon entering the raid and finding Achates, there are multiple mechanics to look out for during the fight. The following list includes each of Achates’ attacks and how to counter them:

Statue Mechanic

Achates will spawn between one to four statues around the fighting area and have a colored aura around its body. Upon breaking the statues, colored orbs will appear on the ground that you can pick up. Pink up one that is the same color as Achates’ aura and throw it at the boss. You may need to repeat this multiple times, depending on how many statues there are.

Wings Mechanic

After weakening Achates during its statue attack, the boss will appear in a weakened state. Use your Destruction bombs and Weak Point attacks to stun the boss. This opportunity will allow you to unleash your strongest attacks on the boss without him dodging or stunning you.

Enraged Mechanic

If you do not succeed at breaking Achates’ wings during the Statue attack, the boss will enrage. This causes Achates to deal increased damage and speed with its attacks. Additionally, Achates will pull players towards him and release a large, one-shot attack. The main way to counter this attack is to stun the boss and interrupt the attack.

Red and Blue Symbols

During the fight, red and blue symbols will appear above your party’s heads. If you have a red mark above your head, pair up with someone who has a blue symbol and vice versa. If you are not paired with a teammate, anyone with the red symbol will take damage over time.

Ice Breath Attack

One of Achate’s attacks is an ice breath attack that will cast debuff stacks on you whenever you are hit. If you accumulate too many stacks, you will take damage-over-time and have an ice aura around your character. If you come into contact with any party members while this aura is active, they will also take damage and gain the debuff stack.

Lightning Aura

Achates will summon a circle of lightning to appear under each player’s character. After a few seconds, a lightning attack will appear where the player was last standing. To avoid this attack, teleport or move away before the attack activates.

Thunder Lasers

Yellow, rotating triangles will appear around the boss, indicating where the attack will strike. There are small gaps that you can go in-between to avoid each attack. Alternatively, you can go outside the range of the triangles to avoid the attack completely.

Wing Slam Attack

The boss will slam down its wings on either side of its body, damaging and stunning anyone in range. Stand in front, behind, or far away from Achates to avoid the attack.

Dive Bomb Attack

There are two different ways Achates will utilize this attack. Either Achates will dive towards one of your party members and appear a distance away or disappear and return shortly after. If Achates disappears, it will return after dropping ice patches on the ground. If you are hit with this attack, you will take some damage and be temporarily stunned.

The best way to counter most of Achates’ attacks is to stay mobile and dodge his attacks as much as possible to avoid getting debuffed or stunned. During the statue attack, make sure to attack his shields with the colored orbs quickly and use as many Weak Point abilities as possible to ensure he does not enrage and potentially one-shot your entire party. Being familiar with each of the boss’ attacks, working well with your team and using battle items when necessary, you will be well on your way to completing the Achates Guardian Raid in Lost Ark.
