Kratos doesn’t ask for directions.
God of War Ragnarok is a gigantic game that takes players on a journey throughout all nine Norse realms. Finding your way around can be tricky, especially with the winding paths and rivers of some zones, which is why developer Santa Monica Studio added a helpful feature to keep you on the right path. While it’s technically an accessibility feature, the Navigation Assist option in God of War Ragnarok will save you a ton of time and frustration as you journey throughout the nine realms. Here’s everything you need to know about the Navigation Assist feature and how to turn it on for your God of War Ragnarok playthrough.
What is Navigation Assist in God of War Ragnarok?
The Navigation Assist feature is exactly what it sounds like. It assists you in your navigation by pointing the camera in the direction of the next objective. You can activate the feature at any time during exploration and it will show you the correct path forward. The Navigation Assist feature will even show you how to solve puzzles and get around tricky mountains and rivers.
Since God of War Ragnarok’s objective markers are segmented and show you the route to the objective in small increments, the Navigation Assist feature will give you a step-by-step path to your destination like a great GPS. It’ll take you exactly to whatever item you need to interact with, whatever collectible you need to pick up, or whatever door you need to open. It’s a handy feature to have, and once you’ve enabled it, it’s hard to go back to playing the normal way.
How to Enable Navigation Assist
You can turn on Navigation Assist in the accessibility settings menu. It’s near the bottom where you’d find motion-controlled aiming and other helpful accessibility features. To use it in-game, you’ll have to assign it to an input. Thankfully, you won’t have to give up a button on your controller for this, because God of War Ragnarok lets you assign things to directional touchpad swipes. That means you can just swipe up on the touchpad to flick the camera in the right direction, for example. It’s your control scheme though, so assign Navigation Assist to whatever input you’d like.
God of War: Ragnarok is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
