Tons of spin-offs and mainline games alike are coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console.
Today (September 13) saw the unveiling of the latest Nintendo Direct stream, in which a ton of information about upcoming Switch and 3DS games was revealed. Among announcements and updates of many other games was a segment dedicated entirely to a number of Final Fantasy games coming to the Switch.
The Nintendo Direct started off this segment by reminding its audience of an announcement made a few days ago, that the 2003 GameCube game Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is getting remastered for the Switch sometime in 2019. This remaster will include an online multi-player mode as well as some new areas. Next, it was revealed that Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition HD, which became available for Xbox One and PS4 last week, will become available on the Switch today.
After this, it was announced that World of Final Fantasy Maxima, an updated version of the 2016 PS4/PS Vita game, will be coming to the Switch on November 6. This new version of the game will include a new feature called Avatar Change, which will allow players to transform their character into popular characters from the series, such as Cloud Strife and Prince Noctis. Also, a new version of 2007’s Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon, entitled Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon EVERY BUDDY!, will allow the player to befriend every monster and play cooperatively with two players when the game comes to the Switch sometime this winter.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! A number of main series games are coming to the Switch as well. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is coming to the Switch sometime in 2019 and will include a Speed Mode that lets players play the game in fast motion. Lastly, it was announced that Final Fantasy VII, IX, and X/X-2 HD Remaster will be coming to the Switch sometime in 2019 as well.
