Love is Blind star Shaina Hurley finally got married to Christos Lardakis this weekend in Chicago. But it wasn’t some fancy affair that would have made the world look on in awe. They went to a courthouse and did the whole thing on the low. The only people there were the couple, her daughter, and an unnamed friend. Honestly, that says a lot about the marriage. This was not some public spectacle that landed on magazine covers. This is just two people quietly committing to each other. In the landscape of reality TV, that is actually refreshing.

Hurley is also very much aware of her own public reputation. She is looked at as difficult but doesn’t think that is fair. Hurley is asking people to look at the genre she was represented in during her stint on Netflix. She claims she is not that person and the genre and editors skewed it one way to make her look bad.
She told Entertainment Tonight:
“What was portrayed is not who I am. I am not a home wrecker,” she said. “I feel that people should just understand and take it in that this is reality television, and if they wanted something more, just watch a documentary.”
That is the rub with being a reality TV star. At the end of the day, you are as much represented by your actions as you are by how the editors want to represent you. Regardless of her difficult reputation, perhaps love is just what she needed. Love is Blind star Shaina Hurley must feel like, for the first time in her life, love isn’t blind.
We wish the doting couple well. If the low-key marriage is any indication, these two are in it for the long haul.
