A new version of the game titled Love Live School Idol Festival ALL STARS was also launched in Japan in September 2019. A global release followed in February 2020. The game itself contains new characters from the then-recently debuted Nijigasakii High School Idol Club. It also ran its own story alongside the original Love Live School Idol Festival story.

The smartphone rhythm game was first launce alongside the first television anime in 2013. A known attraction to the game was that it had additional side stories and character-focused stories that were not in the anime. After success in Japan, the Love Live game received a global release in 2014. It has since spawned the  School Idol Festival- Afterschool Activity- arcade game in 2016. The game was then ported and made available on PlayStation 4 in 2021.

Love Live School Idol Festival: More After Its End

The Love Live franchise started as a self-described “ultimate user-participation project” that let its fans vote on their future idols and idol groups. This included a choice of song lyrics, character details, sub-group members, and center positions. It was a collaboration between the anime Studio Sunrise and ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki G Magazine.

The first Love Live project anime series premiered in January 2013. Once this model proved to be successful, it continued for future  Love Live idol groups and the second season. There is also a film for the franchise titled Love Live! The School Idol Movie opened in June 2015. Since these two releases, the franchise has been successful in Japan and overseas. Currently, Love Like Superstar!! is the fourth and most recent project. It currently focuses on the group Leilla! and its five members. The story for this season focuses on a new school with no reputation, leaving the girls to carve their own paths in the idol world.

Currently, Love Live! is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
