Lucas is one of the last Amiibo to be released for the Super Smash Bros. line of figures, which was the one that started the entire frenzy, and still has the most amount of figures available. There’s still some DLC characters coming down the pipe, with Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud likely being the final entry in the set, though Nintendo has surprised us with some of their scheduling choices.

As for Animal Crossing, that series has just gotten started, so expect to see a lot more from it in the future. Of course, most of the big name characters from the games have already been released, such as Tom Nook and K.K. Slider, but there’s some background characters that Nintendo could easily pull from to keep this series going for a while.

With Super Smash Bros. Amiibo, along with the standalone Mario set, you at least have a lot of games to use your figures with, but Animal Crossing has struggled in this regard. Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival tried to justify the figures, but the game was so poor that few will actually want to try it. Instead they will probably do what most Amiibo collectors have done, and display them on a shelf, rather than actually use them in-game. Of course, there could be a full AC game coming at some point that will use them, so let’s hope for that some time soon.
