The Legendary Pokémon Lugia is returning to the world of Pokémon GO in Raid Battles starting March 16. This comes as a surprise as most trainers have moved on from this Legendary Pokémon, but Lugia’s return comes with a an added bonus.
In addition to the return of this Gen 2 Legendary, Lugia will know the newly improved flying type move Sky Attack. We all know how much of a pain Lugia was when the first wave of Legendaries showed up, but now that Trainers are much stronger, Lugia should be a piece of cake.
While Lugia may know a newly improved move, it isn’t a new thing to Pokémon GO, as Trainers have had experience with Pokémon knowing a move they don’t normally know during the Pokémon GO Community Days. How Sky Attack has been improved is yet to be seen, but Trainers will know soon enough.
Lugia shows up right when Rayquaza leaves, so I believe we are essentially just getting a filler Legendary until the next set of Gen 3 Legendries arrive. The Legendary Pokémon left for Gen 3 are the Eon Duo Latias and Latios, and the Legendary Titans Regice, Registeel, and Regirock.
Still missing from Pokémon GO itself are the two Mythical Pokémon from Gen 1 and Gen 2. Trainers have been patiently waiting for them to arrive in game for some time now. We can only assume that Mew and Celebi will be introduced to us when the quest system arrives.
Lugia will be available to battle in Raids from March 16 to April 2, and don’t forget about our handy guide on what Pokémon are best to use to fight this Legendary Flying and Psychic type. If you happened to miss your chance the first time around, now is the time to help complete your PokéDex.
