Mamma Mia! The Nintendo Direct that aired on September 4 was 40 minutes of great surprises and announcements. From the addition of Terry Bogard to Super Smash Bros Ultimate to the launch of the SNES Online, Nintendo is bringing both new and classic titles to gamers in the near future. One game, in particular, caught people’s attention: Luigi’s Mansion 3.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 Details
With the release date for the game fast approaching, fans are eager to know what is in store for the plumber. Luigi visits a luxurious hotel after receiving a mysterious invitation. However, he discovers upon arriving that his brother Mario and the other invitees have been captured by King Boo. With Professor E. Gadd’s aid, Luigi suits up with the Poltergust G-00 and sets off to find his friends.
Each floor of the hotel in Luigi’s Mansion 3 has a different theme. Showcased in the Nintendo Direct trailer were Tomb Suites, Castle MacFrights, and The Dance Hall, each with matching decor. For example, Tomb Suites has an Egyptian setting with sarcophagi and a giant pyramid. The Dance Hall tests Luigi’s rhythm and his ability to get down on the dance floor. There are doubtlessly many others that have not been shown yet, but based on the footage, Luigi has his work cut out for him.
Multiplayer
Fortunately, the lean green machine will not have to battle the specters of Luigi’s Mansion 3 alone. A function on his Poltergust G-00 lets him create a clone of himself made of…goo. Dubbed “Gooigi”, the doppelganger can assist Luigi by reaching areas that the plumber cannot. Moreover, the player can switch between both depending on the situation. Sadly, Gooigi disappears when he encounters water. However, a friend can drop in and take control of Gooigi, playing along with the first player in the campaign.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 also brings back a mode that was featured in Dark Moon. The ScarePark is a new version of the ScareScraper allowing two to eight players to play and confront ghosts together. In addition, a mix of time trials and versus modes will be available. Players can work together to fight ghouls or square off against each other in various competitions.
