Ironically the series Lupin was interrupted by theft, the second robbery of a Netflix series production. About 20 thieves armed with fireworks held up the production of the Netflix series. The robbery during production occurred in Nanterre, outside of Paris. 20 masked people broke onto the set of the Netflix series Lupin with mortar fireworks. This is the second of two robberies of Netflix series productions, with an estimated $330,000 worth of equipment stolen. Netflix released a statement to Variety stating, “there was an incident on February 25 while filming the upcoming season of ‘Lupin.’ Our cast and crew are safe, and there were no injuries.” Officials are investigating the Netflix series thefts. The series follows Arsène Lupin, a world-famous thief and master of disguise. Art imitated life in a more dramatic fashion with the set theft of Lupin. The French actor Omar Sy plays the titular role.

Lupin marks the Second Robbery of a Netflix Production

The first robbery occurred on February 25, on the production of The Crown. About $200,000 worth of props were stolen. Some of the props stolen included a Fabergé egg replica and gold and silver candelabras. Sy was jubilant for the new season of the Netflix series Lupin, but there were no smiles after the theft. Netflix is working to replace what was stolen, but the robbery of the sets has production shaken up. The heist on the set of the Netflix heist drama series Lupin was most likely not what the crew had in mind when they signed on for the project. The Netflix series thefts have not been linked to the same people. Thankfully the thieves just had the valuables in mind during the thefts.

Is this an organized network of thieves targeting Netflix series? Lastly, will Netflix make a movie about the thefts once the thieves are caught?
