In the words of the legendary Miami Dolphin quarterback Dan Marino, “There is no defense against a perfect pass.” As players dive into the newly-released Madden 22 they may be left wondering how to throw different types of passes such as a touch pass, a lob pass, or a bullet pass.  Using the correct pass in different situations is vital to getting the best results out of your offensive opportunities. A touch pass is the most difficult of the three to throw but it gives you a nice in-between from the lobs and bullets. Here’s how to throw a touch pass in Madden 22.

How to Throw a Touch Pass in Madden 22

The selection between lob, touch, and bullet passes in Madden 22 is decided by how long you hold down the button of the receiver you are passing to. When throwing a touch pass, you will want to press the button down and hold momentarily, but not hold it all the way through the pass, or else you will end up with a bullet. You also can’t just tap the button for a split-second, as this will give you a lob pass.

On a deep play where your receiver has bypassed a defender, a lob pass would be best to allow them to stay in stride. A bullet pass would be most effective when a receiver is open, but not moving or only moving a small amount, such as in quick pass plays. The touch pass makes for a great general-purpose pass to use in any other situation besides those just mentioned.

Getting comfortable with the differences in how long to hold down the button may take a little while, but once you’ve got the hang of it you will likely always be able to make the pass you want. Getting comfortable with the different kinds of passes is necessary for taking on things such as the MUT (Madden Ultimate Team) challenges or beating very skilled opponents. If you find that practicing these passes during a game is causing you some problems then you can always use practice mode to really dial in your throws. Here’s hoping you make it to the hall of fame!

Madden 22 is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
