The Mafia series has grown over the years to be a set of games that have incredible depth and solid mission design. They lie infamously in many player’s hearts, going down as some of the best action-adventure games on the market. Mafia 1 and 2, in particular, go down as some of the greats, with the latter recently getting a facelift in the form of a definitive edition. Now, it’s time for the first game to get a makeover of its own. Mafia: Definitive Edition is now available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, bringing fans back to the city of Lost Heaven in beautifully remastered graphics. What is Mafia: Definitive Edition?
Mafia: Definitive Edition tells the story of Tommy Angelo, a humble cab driver in the city of Lost Heaven. Following a run-in with the Salieri crime family, Tommy is thrust into a world of crime and misdeeds, fueled with bullets and drama. This underworld isn’t all it’s cracked up to be though, as rival mobsters seek to take Don Salieri’s power. Will Tommy rise through the ranks and prove to be one of the best men the mob has, or will the pressure of his new life prove too much for him?
Everything is vastly improved upon in Mafia: Definitive Edition. The biggest change of all comes in the form of a graphical overhaul. 18 years is a lot of time for graphical innovations, which Mafia uses to create a lively city reminiscent of its time period. That, combined with some beautiful cutscenes and additional content, makes for a remake that’s much deserving of that title.
