Even if you haven’t played it, there’s no doubt you’ve heard of the Mafia series. Its first two entries are considered some of gaming’s greats featuring an immersive world and graphics that still hold up in this day and age. The most recent entry may not have garnered as much acclaim from fans, but the series still goes down as incredibly memorable. Fans haven’t had any news regarding something new for Mafia recently, until now. Today, Mafia’s official Twitter account tweeted for the first time in two years, possibly signifying a return to the series.
Family.

The tweet is simply the word “Family.” While on its own, this wouldn’t normally mean anything, the post coming after several years of silence does bring into question if something’s coming. Why else would they be making a tweet from that account, and why would that be the tweet? Of course, this could always just be a post meaning nothing. Considering what developers have done in the past, though, I’d be surprised if this all amounted to nothing. Either way, we’ll be keeping an eye on their social media and will update you if anything else related to Mafia comes up.
To no one’s surprise, we don’t know what exactly this new project entails. This could mean either an entirely new game or a remaster. Initial fan reactions on the Tweet though, seem to indicate a remaster is desired. More specifically, a remaster of the critically acclaimed Mafia 2. It follows the story of Vito Scarletta, a mobster starting to make a name for himself. With the help of his friend Joe, you make your way up the family ladder. You’ll quickly realize though, that climbing up a mafia family ladder isn’t all peaches and cream.
