Exclusive previews of X-Men Red #7 reveal Magneto’s final wishes! The Master of Magnetism is successful in stopping the destruction of Arakko, but not without cost. As he lay dying, fellow mutant Storm is at his side. He asks one final request from Storm, hinting that the sometimes-villain may not want to be resurrected.
How Did We Get Here?
Throughout the past several issues of X-Men Red, the series has been dealing with the overarching Judgment Day event. This event sees Druig leading the Eternals in an all-out war against the X-Men. He sees them as genetic deviants and wants them eradicated from the universe. To do this, he invades both the mutant island Krakoa and its sister island Arakko. This forces the mutants to defend their homes with everything and everyone, they got.
On Arakko, Storm, and Magento help fight against the deadly assault led by Uranos. Unfortunately, Uranos can gain the upper hand and tears out Magneto’s heart. Yet, Magneto keeps fighting as his powers are able to keep his body going.
Now, with Uranos and the assault stopped, Magneto is succumbing to his injuries. This leads to a powerful and sad moment between Magneto and Storm.
Magneto’s Final Wishes
Marvel shared two exclusive panels, alongside the issue’s cover, with CBR. In the first preview panel, it picks up with Uranos’ death and Magneto lying in Storm’s arms. In the next panel. Magneto is attempting to talk to Storm, but she urges him to save his energy. As the two discuss the mutant ability of resurrection and dying as a martyr, the tone shifts. Then, Magneto’s final wishes are given to Storm, and they are quite surprising. The Master of Magnetism wants Storm to “watch Charles.”
Obviously, Charles is Magneto’s longtime friend and sometimes nemesis, Professor X. Why would Magneto use his last words to issue such an ominous message? Could Magneto’s final wishes hint at something sinister going on with Charles?
X-Men Red #7 comes from writer Al Ewing and Artist Madibek MusaBekov. It hits shelves on October 5.
