Maintenance for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.25 has been announced. As per a post on the game’s official website and a tweet on the FFXIV news Twitter, Final Fantasy XIV will be down for maintenance from Oct. 17, 11:00pm PT, until Oct. 18, 3:00am PT. This four-hour maintenance will see the game updated to the latest patch.

But one thing about the maintenance is a little different than usual. In almost all previous maintenance period announcements, the line “Completion time is subject to change.” is included. However, an additional maintenance line has stated, “This maintenance will not end before the scheduled ending time.”

This can only mean that Square Enix is taking the release of this new content for patch 6.25 very seriously. This kind of release, where the time will not shift earlier, hasn’t been done in recent memory, even for the release of the most recent raid tier. On the other hand, the new Criterion Dungeons appear to be worth making sure no one misses out if the servers are up early.

As usual, the Home World Transfer Service and the Data Center Travel System will be suspended 30 minutes before maintenance begins. The Companion app will also be undergoing maintenance, and of course, any duty recorder data recorded before this maintenance can no longer be replayed after this maintenance. That’s the usual maintenance spiel, though. Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.25 goes live on Oct. 18, 3:00am PT.
