Starting Dec. 4, Pokemon trainers will have a good chance of running into some huge competition during some fierce battles. That’s when the Gigantamax form of the already massive Snorlax will start showing up during Max Raid battles in dens throughout Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The new Gigantamax Snorlax will be available once you connect to the internet and accept the latest Mystery Gift in the game. After you’ve downloaded the new update, Gigantamax Snorlax will appear in Max Raid battles under the same conditions as any other Gigantamax Pokemon.

If you want to make sure you find a Gigantamax Snorlax, though, it’s best to take this giant competitor on early, since the random spawn rates of Gigantamax Pokemon can make them hard to find. According to Serebii.net, this beefy Snorlax will have a chance to spawn in any den in the Wild Area until Jan. 5, 2020, as opposed to most Gigantamax Pokemon, which only show up in specific dens.

Serebii Update: Gigantamax Snorlax is now available in Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword & Shield until January 5th 2020. Access via Mystery Gift to download the news to activate the event https://t.co/gDbXkHSvkT pic.twitter.com/Klukgo5Cvo

While you’re hunting for Gigantamax Snorlax, you may want to keep your eyes peeled for Gigantamax Butterfree. There’s currently an event in Pokemon Sword and Shield that makes the Gigantamax variant of this old-school Pokemon more likely to show up until early January.

It’s also an excellent time to make sure you’ve claimed your Gigantamax Meowth. This particular Pokemon is available as an early purchase bonus for anyone who buys Pokemon Sword and Shield, but it will only be available until Jan. 15. Like the Gigantamax Snorlax, you’ll first need to connect to the internet and receive the Mystery Gift to get your Gigantamax Meowth.
