This is no more clearly expressed than via Change.org member Logan Norfleet’s recent petition. In said petition, The Mandalorian fan expresses dismay at the actress’s firing, blaming “cancel culture and Twitter”. Referencing Gina Carano’s social media post where she compared the treatment of modern-day conservatives to Holocaust-era Jews, Norfleet had this to say

Describing Gina Carano’s performance as Cara Dune as “a joy to watch”, he appealed to “the fans of “The Mandalorian,” please. Speak out. Disney needs to stop the trend of firing actors for controversial tweets, and just keep treating the fans to a great show. Rehire Gina Carano. Firing her isn’t justice.”

Given that the charge.org petition has acquired over 33,000 signatures as of the time of writing, it’s clear that many fans feel the same way as the petition’s creator. The signature amount is quickly climbing to the target goal of 35,000.

The firing of Gina Carano has split the internet. Some think that the firing was justified, feeling that Carano made an unfair and inaccurate comparison, bordering on bigotry. Meanwhile, others feel that bad post aside, Carano didn’t deserve the sack. Some fans even believe her social media post was spot-on in describing the current climate.
