Virtual reality is without a doubt going to be a big part of the gaming industry for the next few years, though its actual success is still yet to be determined. We’ve already seen the rocky launches of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive and the PlayStation VR is coming later this year. The Vive was created in a partnership between HTC and Vive, so it’s no surprise to learn that they are focusing quite a bit on VR.

Like many products, the Vive has its own subreddit and one name that has been around is a developer with Valve named Alan Yates, who goes by vk2zay on Reddit.

“I was super fortunate to start at Valve right around the time Michael Abrash had begun the AR/VR research team. It was a much smaller team then than it is now, it has since grown to encompass about a third of the company, but the key individuals that solved most of the really hard technological problems and facilitated this generation of consumer headsets are still here working on the next generation.”
