Over the years, reality TV fans have seen some interesting drama-filled shows. Out of the various series that have hit the screens, The Real Housewives and The Kardashians franchises are undoubtedly two of fans’ favorites. However, while many have applauded the shows in the past, comedian Mario Cantone thinks otherwise. According to Mario Cantone, The Real Housewives and The Kardashians ruined TV. Here are the details.

Mario Cantone Is Not A Fan of Two Fan-Favorite Reality Shows

Recently, Mario sat down with David Yontef on the Behind The Velvet podcast to discuss various issues ranging from his roles to friendships. However, one topic that caught the attention of the public was reality TV. During the interview, the Hollywood star admitted being asked to do reality TV shows frequently.

After his confession, Mario made a rather shocking revelation. He noted he had never watched an episode of Housewives or The Kardashians. According to The Sex and the City star Mario Cantone, KUWTK, The Real Housewives, and The Kardashians ruined TV and “dumbed everything down.” In addition, Mario noted that the show’s effect was one reason Donald Trump was elected.

In his words:

Mario backed up his words by quoting Truman Capote, who believed that for every year spent in California, one loses a point of their IQ. According to the actor, the same applies to people who watch reality TV series.

Mario Cantone further proved his dislike for reality TV series by admitting that Andy Cohen once invited him to star in a version of Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List. However, Mario said he turned him down despite his love for Andy.

Mario Cantone Says Talent Shows Differ From Other Reality TV Shows

One might argue that talent competitions fall under reality TV, but Mario Cantone believes they are very different. According to the Hollywood icon, following people around with a camera every time of the day was very different from people showing off their talents.

Mario told David that he would not mind being a judge on one of such talent shows. However, he would not want to be a contestant.
