When the Nintendo Switch was originally revealed we saw gameplay from a game that looked an awful lot like Mario Kart 8, and that’s because it was. The game will be getting a “deluxe” version on Nintendo’s upcoming console, featuring the full game and all of its additional content along with a “revamped” battle mode.
However, the fact that the game would be getting released for a second time had some hoping that it might mean that some new tracks would be coming to the game, but that sadly will not be the case. In the time following the Switch event there has been much more information coming out regarding the console’s games, including some new information on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The developers officially confirmed that there will not be any new race tracks being added to the game, despite initial rumors suggesting that there might be. While the lack of new tracks is unfortunate, for those who never bothered with any of the DLC the new version will be a great way to finally check them out. This along with the addition of new characters and a revamped battle mode should go a long way in making Mario Kart 8 on Nintendo Switch worth the double dip for owners of the Wii U version.
When the game originally launched on Wii U it was considered to be by many the strongest entry in the series yet, with graphics, tracks and controls that were all fantastic. The only major complaint that just about everyone agreed on was the game’s lacking battle mode, which didn’t feature individual arena courses and instead just utilized normal race tracks from the main mode.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will launch for Nintendo Switch on April 28th. You can check out the game in action through the video below.
