For those of you wondering whether Mario Kart Tour would have some multiplayer coming along, good news — there is. Well, for individual players anyway.
Nintendo posted an announcement about the game on the official Mario Kart Tour Twitter account, confirming that a multiplayer beta test will take place sometime in December. This will enable players to race against others for the first time.
Ah, but there’s a catch. According to the tweet, the test is set aside for Gold Pass holders. For those that missed it, the Gold Pass is a monthly subscription program that goes for $4.99 a month, offering several Gifts as well as access to the 200cc class. (Free-to-play fans don’t get those extras.)
There’s no word yet as to when Nintendo could open up a multiplayer test for everyone that enjoys the game. More than likely, it’s taking its time testing out online features before opening up the servers to see what they can do.
Nintendo said that “more details” were “coming soon,” based on the tweet, which is visible below.
It’s not too late to hop on board with the Gold Pass and take part in the action if you ever wanted to play against your friends. However, if you’re sticking with not paying anything for the game, then you’re going to miss out this time around.
A real-time multiplayer beta test is planned for December and will be available to #MarioKartTour Gold Pass subscribers.
