Will Superstars be getting any post-launch content? Here is what we know so far.

Mario Party Superstars is the second Mario Party game to land on the Nintendo Switch. It’s a compilation of some of the most popular minigames from the past ten mainline games of the series with boards all from the Nintendo 64 era of the franchise. Since this is a new game, many are wondering if this game will receive any post-launch support. Here’s what we know.

Will there be any DLC for Mario Party Superstars?

As of writing this, there has not been any mention of DLC for Superstars. It isn’t all bad news and not totally out of the question. Many other Mario games in this genre have had their fair share of post-launch content on the Nintendo Switch.

Games like Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf: Super Rush have had their fair share of sizable updates that came in the form of post-launch DLC including characters and levels. Even Super Mario Party, while having rather lukewarm reception, received some post-launch support that expanded online functionality.

It would be a hugely missed opportunity for long-run sales of the game if Mario Party Superstars did not receive any sort of extra content down the line, whether free or paid. Every mainline Mario Party game on home consoles have had 50 minigames at the minimum. That’s a pool of over 500 minigames to choose from.

Compare that to the 100 that are currently in the game. There is so much potential for any of them to be put in, especially from the GameCube and Nintendo 64 eras. They were the more popular picks of the ten mainline games of the series.

The same goes for the boards and characters too. The fact that there are only five boards and ten characters, especially in a compilation game, can make the game feel stale after a while. More characters adds more personality, and the Mushroom Kingdom has a huge roster of picks who would be fun additions to Superstars.

Hopefully, this game can receive more post-launch content, especially with the fact that online functionality was built in from the get go.
