Are you wondering how to unlock Bowser in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope? Bowser is a fully playable character, unlike the previous Mario + Rabbids entry, whose only appearance is as a boss. He is the last character you will unlock around the 45% game completion point. He begrudgingly joins Mario and the Rabbids to reclaim his army from the game’s main antagonist, Cursa. Bowser is equipped with the Bowzooka, a bazooka-like weapon that fires flaming rocks. He can also summon Rabbid Mechakoopas that auto-target the closest enemy and explode. This guide will discuss how to unlock Bowser as one of the nine playable characters in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.

How to Unlock Bowser in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

“Roarr! Looking for Cursa, same as you! It corrupted my army of weak-minded imbeciles, and I want them back!”

You cannot unlock Bowser until you reach Pallet Prime, the game’s third world, by naturally progressing the story. Here are the steps to follow once you have reached Pallet Prime:

  • Complete either of the two primary objectives (it doesn’t matter which, as they both lead to the town plaza)
  • Travel through Woodrow’s house
  • This will get you to the town plaza much quicker but will skip a quest and boss fight.
  • Investigate the woods to restore its missing color
  • You’ll have to beat the Darkness Root in a two-phase fight before the path to the town plaza is opened for you
  • Enter the town plaza
  • Bowser will join you to fight Bedrock
  • You will unlock Bowser as a playable character after beating Bedrock

Bowzooka

The Bowzooka fires flaming rocks with massive damage in a large area. It also ignores partial cover and shatters destructible covers. This weapon is extremely good for large groups of enemies.

Mechakoopas

Bowser can summon Rabid Mechakoopas that auto-target the closest enemies and explode for good damage. If they are unable to for any reason, then they will continue to move and seek out new targets during the next round.

Tip: Part members can pick up and toss Rabid Mechakoopas, adding to their utility in different situations.
