Throughout the 2020s, we’ve been seeing a re-emergence of popular movie franchises. From Ghostbusters, Bill & Ted to The Matrix, we are seeing a new dawn of sequels in cinema. The latest project to emerge out of this Hollywood trend is Beverly Hills Cop 4. Deadline reports that the Netflix original will star Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley and will be directed by director/producer Mark Molloy.

Get To Know Director Mark Molloy

Mark Molloy is fresh on the movie scene. Molloy is reportedly an internationally renowned director whose style has been described as “emotionally charged” and “visually compelling.” His imaginative approach to filmmaking has earned him high praise and numerous accolades, including a 2018 nomination for Adage’s Director of the Year. Up until this point, Mark Molloy has built a name for himself in marketing and is said to be one of the most in-demand directors in the advertising industry. According to IMDB, not only will Beverly Hills Cop 4 be Molloy’s first feature film, but it will also be his first comedy and his first time working with Netflix.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Isn’t Eddie Murphy’s Only Netflix Original Comedy

In addition to Beverly Hills Cop 4, Eddie Murphy fans can also look forward to You People–another Netflix comedy starring Murphy that is expected to release sometime this year. Fans of Murphy are ecstatic about the resurgence of the comedy legend. It’ll be interesting to see how his raw, unfiltered comedic style fares under today’s social climate, which has been particularly stifling for comedians as of late.
