Marvel fans will once again get the opportunity to choose the next member of Krakoa’s superhero team during the second X-Men election. Voting will run from now until January 13, and the results will be revealed during the second annual Hellfire Gala. In a press release, Marvel announced this event and introduced the 10 lucky candidates up for the spot.
What is the X-Men Vote?
This will be the second opportunity for Marvel fans to choose a member of the mutant superhero team. Last year, in the build-up to the first Hellfire Gala, fans could vote for one of 10 mutants to join the X-men. That spot ultimately went to Polaris, daughter of Magneto and metal manipulator. However, fans will get the opportunity to see those that didn’t make the cut in an upcoming Secret X-Men one-shot.
Clearly, Marvel enjoyed the X-men election and has brought it back. Whether this will be an annual occurrence to commemorate the Hellfire Gala is yet to be seen. For now, fans can enjoy getting to know the candidates and choosing a favorite. Speaking of the candidates…
Who Are the Candidates?
Along with the announcement of the X-men vote, Marvel also revealed the names of the mutants eligible to win the position, as well as short biographies to catch readers up and fun campaign slogans. The list of mutants and their slogans are:
- Armor: “Armor Up”
- Avalanche: “Shake things up”
- Bling: “Vote! Bling!”
- Gentle: “X-ponential strength for an X-ponentially better X-Men”
- Micromax: “He’ll grow on you”
- Penance: “Vote Penance for perfection”
- Siryn: “EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEElect Siryn”
- Surge: “Surge to the polls”
- Firestar: “An amazing friend for Krakoa”
- Gorgon: “New year, New Gorgon”
Fans can cast their vote for their choice over at Marvel’s official voting page. Plus, as with last year’s event, members of Marvel Insider will also be able to enter a contest to be drawn into a panel of the Hellfire Gala. Entries for that will open next week.
