Marvel is celebrating 60 years of Ant-Man with a limited series focusing on the size-changing hero. Consisting of four issues, the series will be written by Al Ewing with art from Tom Reilly. Each issue will focus on a different Ant-Man, beginning with Hank Pym. It will end with a new Ant-Man being introduced to the Marvel Universe. It all kicks off with Ant-Man #1.

60 Years of Ant-Man… That’s A Lot of Ant-Men

Marvel teased this limited series earlier today with a series of portraits featuring the Ant-Men. Four portraits showed off Hank Pym, Scott Lang, Eric O’Grady, and the future iteration of the character.

Each portrait is accompanied by a caption that sums up their personalities. First up is Hank Pym, or “The Original.” Pym is the first Ant-Man that debuted back in the sixties. After discovering the Pym Particles that allowed him to shrink and grow, Pym created the Ant-Man persona.

The next man to become the size-changing hero is Scott Lang, or “The Thief.” Lang is a reformed criminal who steals Pym’s suit to save his daughter. This origin story is seen in the MCU Ant-Man films, with Paul Rudd portraying Lang and Michael Douglas as Pym. Therefore, this version of Ant-Man is probably the most known from fans.

However, there is a third Ant-Man, Eric O’Grady, or “The Irredeemable.” O’Grady became Ant-Man after finding the suit in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s headquarters, where he worked. He eventually stole the suit for his own personal gain.

Of course, the fourth will be revealed in this new limited series.

What Will The First Issue Be About?

Kicking things off for the limited series will be Ant-Man #1. This will focus on Pym’s early days as the superhero. According to Marvel, the issue will see Hank and his girlfriend, Janey Van Dyne, on a date night. Of course, the date doesn’t go as planned when Ant-Man’s enemies show up. Luckily, a mysterious stranger has been stalking Pym, who may be able to help.

Writer Al Ewing shared the idea behind this new series for 60 years of Ant-Man. He told Marvel, “For Ant-Man’s ant-iversary, we wanted to go BIG with the world’s smallest hero.” He continued to say, “You’ll find out how Henry Pym, Scott Lang, and Eric O’Grady impacted each other’s lives in ways they never knew themselves — but who’s the mysterious final member of this Ant-tastic Four? Tremble with ant-icipation, true believer — the answers are coming soon to a hill near you!”

The first of the four-issue series will hit shelves on June 8.
