Comicbook is reporting today that Marvel will be developing an X-Men animated series starting in 2023 for Disney+. Will this be a reimagining of the original, 1992 animated series that ran on Fox Kids Network for five seasons? So far there are no indications that that is the case, but we will hopefully be learning more tomorrow as Disney gets their Disney+ Day presentation underway.

Back in August of 2021 at a Wizard World panel, the original X-Men animated series producer Larry Houston spoke about pitching a series reboot to Marvel Studios back in 2019:
The original X-Men animated series premiered back on October 31, 1992. It was Marvel’s second attempt at an X-Men animated series at the time with their initial pilot, X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men, was never picked up for a run. The show’s last episode premiered on September 20, 1997. Most recently the original show is currently available to stream on Disney+. Shortly after this show’s premiere, another 90’s animated favorite premiered on September 5, 1992; Batman: The Animated Series.
With Marvel developing an X-Men animated series, does this open the door for Batman: The Animated Series to get a reboot? In a copycat industry, only time will tell.
