Marvel is expanding on the Spider-Verse like never before in the upcoming Edge of the Spider-Verse series. This new limited series introduces a slew of Spider-Heroes while catching up with fan favorites. Longtime Spider-Man creators and rising stars get the opportunity to leave their mark on the Spider-Verse in the stories told in this limited series. However, kicking things off is Spider-Man alum Dan Slott in Edge of the Spider-Verse #1.
What to Expect in Edge of the Spider-Verse #1
The first issue in this limited series features four different stories across the sprawling Spider-Verse. Visionary Spider-Man contributor Dan Slott teams up with Martin Coccolo to introduce a new Spider-persona. The duo travels to the Scottish Highlands of the 18th Century to introduce Spider-Laird to readers.
Along with Slott and Coccolo, Alex Segura and Caio Majado are getting in on the Spider-Man action. The duo is launching a new status quo for fan-favorite Spider-Man variant Arana. This includes an all-new costume designed by the wonderful Humberto Ramos. Meanwhile, creators Karla Pacheco and Pere Perez take readers of the limited series all the way back to the prehistoric era. The duo introduces a new Spider-Man variant, Spider-Rex, to the Spider-Verse. Finally, Dustin Weaver and D.J. Bryant aim to take your breath away with a haunting story involving Spider-Noir.
Tell Me More About This Upcoming Series
Each of the five issues in this one-of-a-kind series will contain multiple stories within the Spider-Verse. These stories will introduce new heroes to the Spider-Verse while catching up with some fan favorites. Classic characters returning to the series include Arana, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Man: India. Plus, these new adventures will plant the seeds for an overarching saga that will kick off The End Of Spider-Verse.
In discussing the series, Dan Slott shared that Marvel is doing something truly outstanding with Edge of the Spider-Verse. Specifically, it is crazy that they are ending the comic book Spider-Verse. However, it is going out with a bang!
It all kicks off on August 3rd with the release of Edge of the Spider-Verse #1.
