Marvel’s FCBD previews are setting the stage for an epic showdown in this summer’s Judgement Day event. With Free Comic Book Day right around the corner, Marvel has given the first look at some of its offerings this year. They include Avengers/X-Men #1, which sets the stage for the Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals showdown taking place later. Plus, Spider-Man/Venom #1 and Spidey and His Amazing Friends take a look at what everyone’s favorite web-slinger is up to.

Marvel’s FCBD: Avengers/X-Men #1

For Free Comic Book Day, Kieron Gillen and Dustin Weaver set the stage for Judgment Day in Avengers/X-Men #1. Of course, it makes sense that Gillen would tackle such an endeavor as he is holding the reins for this summer’s Judgement Day event. This upcoming event pits three of Marvel’s biggest teams on a course for war. The short FCBD offering shows off the ancient origins of this coming conflict between the X-Men and Eternals. Plus, it offers a look into the Avenger’s role in all of this.

Plus, the Free Comic Book Day issue also contains a short story from Gerry Duggan and Matteo Lolli. The tale leads into this year’s Hellfire Gala. In “Let’s Talk About Krokoa,” Moira MacTaggert explains how Krakoa came to be, her role, and what evil she has in store for it.

Spider-Man/Venom #1

In this free issue, the friendly neighborhood crime fighter finds himself facing off against a killer mailbox. From Zen Wells and John Romita Jr., “Lost in the Mail” sees Peter Parker rescuing an older man. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Spider-Man comic without Parker’s signature humor.

Meanwhile, the comic also features a Venom story from Ram V, Al Ewing, and Stefano Raffaele. In “Seven Seals,” a naked and bleeding Eddie Brock is invited to embrace black magic as The Magician. Also, Brock’s son Dylan is making some confessions to his friend Normie. He believes his father is still alive and struggling to get back to him.

Spidey and His Amazing Friends

Finally, this short comic is based on the animated Disney Junior series. Steven Behling, Giovanni Rigano, and Antello Dalena are offering a collection of stories from the My First Comic Reader series.

All of these comics will be available on May 7 at your local comic book shop as part of FCBD!
