During E3 2021, a welcomed surprise was showcased by Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal. Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot are back in an all-new adventure in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Star-Lord, Ready for Duty…Probably

Sticking with Marvel for round two, Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal showed off some intense gameplay for their new title. Initially, we were treated with the Official Reveal Trailer that re-introduces us to the misfit gang of space warriors. The game seems to capture the humor from James Gunn’s film adaptations while maintaining comic book consistency straight from the pages.

In the Guardians of the Galaxy game, the player will control Peter Quill, or Star-Lord for the less informed. The game is crafted into a single-player experience that is driven by narrative and choices. As Star-Lord, you’ll not only go up against strange beings from space but also family drama as you try to keep a cool and collected ship with your fellow Guardians. Making certain choices can steer how one may feel about Quill, and some consequences can bring in more unintentional trouble.

The trailer is packed with all of the cosmic action that one can expect from the Guardians. You’ll hover and shoot, punch and roll, and command your Guardians while engaging in heated combat. The trailer is backed by Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero” classic hit. More of the story is explored through the Gameplay First Look footage, which goes deeper into detail on how the game works and progresses. Also, be on the lookout for a quick cameo from Cosmo the Spacedog!

When to Expect This Title

Of course, no Guardians of the Galaxy world is complete without a rocking 80s soundtrack. Star-Lord can utilize the music for chill sessions or right in the middle of a battle. Players can expect the new game to launch on October 26 of this year. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be available to play on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
