While we don’t have the precise sales data, it looks like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is off to an excellent launch. The game released exclusively for Nintendo Switch last Friday and has reportedly achieved outstanding sales performance in the United States, despite not being on PS4 and Xbox One.
According to Benji-Sales, an insider well informed about sales, the game has been performing “significantly ahead of my expectations for the title in the US,” following the first 48 hours. He says that it’s made it for a “very impressive launch.”
These numbers mean that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 could achieve the record of being the third-largest Switch launch of 2019 so far. It’ behind Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, a port from the Wii U, and Super Mario Maker 2.
The game is “tracking significantly ahead of other big launches on Switch such as Mortal Kombat 11 and Crash Team Racing,” in the United States. Despite having big competition regarding third-party releases, which are way many more than the Wii U days.
“Marvel and Nintendo may have a legitimate hit,” Benji-Sales adds. Even though we do not know for how long Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 can keep performing like this. The launch window is pretty good. However, Fire Emblem: Three Houses releases for the Switch on Friday, July 26, and that could bring about some changes.
Of course, we’ll know more when there’s specific sales data following Fire Emblem’s release. In the meantime, you can give our Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order review a look to learn more about Team Ninja’s latest title.
It’s looking possible that MUA3 could be the 3rd biggest Switch launch of 2019 so far. Only behind New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and Mario Maker 2
