The big news out of the NPD data last week was that Call of Duty: Black Ops remained the dominant force in gaming for February.  But Marvel Vs Capcom 3 begs to differ.  Capcom tweeted and posted the NPD data showing that they indeed took home the number one spot in February. Gamasutra’s story detailed that Marvel Vs Capcom 3 was the number 2 selling game across all platforms in the US in February but it turns out they were number one.

Not that it matters all that much, Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is an exceptional game whether 100 or a 1,000,000 purchased it.  You can catch our review of the recently released fighter here.

After a decade of waiting, iconic Marvel and Capcom characters join forces again in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, a re-envisioned team fighting game for a new generation of gamers. Fill the shoes of legendary characters from both the Marvel and Capcom universes as you engage in 3-on-3 battles within living comic book art style environments powered by Capcom’s MT Framework, an advanced version of the graphics engine used forResident Evil 5. Additional features include: a single player story and online multiplayer modes, new playable character additions, a simplified three-button control scheme and a character-specific “Simple” Mode which can function as a tutorial.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is available now for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

MvC3 #1 in February. The Gamasutra article was incorrect. COD was in fact #2. http://fb.me/HuDDXnmX
